Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Identify and use selected high-frequency vocabulary in a variety of oral and written contexts at an intermediate level of mastery.
- Distinguish between vocabulary that is more appropriate in formal and informal contexts.
- Evaluate and apply vocabulary learning strategies.
Course Activities and Design
Class time includes a combination of presentation, small group and whole class discussion ,and other spoken and written practice. Other activities may include videos and group projects. Homework includes preparation for all the above as well as activities such as journal writing, practice exercises and study for quizzes and tests.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Vocabulary journals, quizzes, tests, student writing and oral presentations.
