Course Description

Covers advanced operation and use of various types of equipment and tools used in electronic technology. Includes electronic bench equipment, schematics and PCB layout software. Emphasizes troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Prerequisites: EET 101A. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Compile data using advanced features of an oscilloscope and function generator.
  2. Analyze spreadsheets and data from electronic bench equipment to include in written lab reports.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of microcontrollers and implementation of minor code edits.
  4. Troubleshoot and build circuits using simulation.

Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)

  • Use of oscilloscope, function generator and other lab equipment
  • Introduction to troubleshooting skills
  •  Introduction to scientific calculators and how to use them in the EET program.
  • Study of microcontrollers and associated libraries and code.
  • Introduction to the application of computer simulation in the EET program.
  • Continued practice with word processor and spreadsheet skills.
