Course Description
Examines implementation and management of production planning systems, including master production scheduling, material requirements planning, capacity and inventory planning and production activity control. Explores contemporary approaches such as Just-In-Time, Kanban System, vendor management inventory, and the relationship of enterprise-level planning and control systems to the overall materials flow. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Use inventory flow and planning models to design processes with the most efficient production planning outcomes.
- Apply knowledge of capacity planning and space utilization in a production facility to ensure timely production scheduling to meet customer demands.
- Create production plans and schedules that demonstrate an understanding of production data, production capacity requirements, material planning, delivery schedules and reduce waste.
