Course Description
Basic principles, methods and techniques of determining the value of real estate in connection with transfer of ownership, financing and credit, just compensation in condemnation, and as a basis for taxation. Meets State of Oregon requirements for licensing/certification. Audit available.
Addendum to Course Description
Real Estate Appraisal Foundations is intended to be a student's initial real estate appraisal course.
Intended Outcomes for the course
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic real estate appraisal concepts and methods.
- Communicate effectively using standard real estate appraisal terminology.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Students will be assessed by any combination of the following:
- Active participation in class
- Contextual written tasks (in or outside of class) to assess reading
- Homework assignments
- Oral responses to in class hypothetical
- Request for real life applications of course material
- In class, interactive student role-plays
- Quizzes and practice exams following State of Oregon Appraisal Certification and Licensure Board question format; Final comprehensive examination patterned after Oregon Real Estate Appraisal license exam
