Course Description

Explores fitness instruction and leadership for group fitness classes. Covers components of group fitness classes, styles of group exercise, and teaching methods. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  • Design and implement group fitness programming with appropriate use of music, choreography, and cueing.

  • Demonstrate effective teaching methods when instructing group fitness classes.

  • Utilize and enhance group fitness programming and teaching strategies learned through critical analysis of professionals in the industry.

  • Explore current trends and employment opportunities in the group fitness industry.

  • Critical analysis of group fitness instructors in live classes and on video.

  • Current trends in group fitness.
