Course Description

Applies skills acquired in basic/beginning soccer play. Utilizes kicking, passing, dribbling, heading, play strategies, and goal-keeper skills. May be played on outdoor field or altered for indoor play. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Each student supplies his/her own clothing. Clothing should be loose and comfortable fitting for exercise. Shoes are mandatory and should be designed for soccer.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate skills to play intermediate soccer
  2. Improve physical conditioning
  3. Develop skills for maintaining lifelong health and fitness

SUBJECT MATTER: CONCEPTS, THEMES, ISSUES (TOPICAL AREAS)
 

  1. Review Basic Fundamental Skills of Soccer
  2. Introduction of game strategy
  3. Rules, terminology, and sportsmanship
  4. Safe use of equipment


COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

  1. Perform warm up and cool down
  2. Practice fundamentals: including ball handling, passing, shooting
  3. Participation in team play
  4. Demonstrate use of Game Strategy for team play
