Course Description

Covers skills, rules and strategies. Emphasizes individual and team offensive, defensive and kicking techniques as well as concepts of team organization and play. Considerable time is spent playing the game. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Classes will be conducted in large groups for lecture, demonstration, participation, and competitive play. In addition, the class may be divided into small groups and individuals for skill development and practice. Only rubber cleats will be allowed

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of Flag Football skills.
  2. Improve individual and team Flag Football skills.
  3. Recognize and apply the value and benefits of Flag Football as a lifelong activity.

SUBJECT MATTER: CONCEPTS, THEMES, ISSUES (TOPICAL AREAS)
 

  1. Safe and effective warm-up, stretching, and cool down exercises
  2. Football stance for line and backfield
  3. Blocking, forward passing, and center snap
  4. Ball carrying and pass receiving
  5. Punt, kick-off, and kick receiving
  6. Variety of running and passing plays
  7. Defending the run
  8. Defending the pass


COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

  1. Practice safe and effective warm-up, stretching, and cool down exercises
  2. Demonstrate effective blocking, passing, and center snap
  3. Demonstrate correct ball carrying and pass receiving
  4. Utilize correct punt, kick-off, and kick receiving
  5. Apply a variety of running and passing plays
  6. Effectively defend the run and pass
