Course Description

Builds further on the intermediate techniques of the game. Emphasizes team play, offensive/defensive situations and other advanced skills of spiking, team blocking and shoulder roll. Beginning volleyball and intermediate volleyball skills or instructor permission required. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Each student provides appropriate sport clothing for activity. Sport shoes are required for activity.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Improve physical condition
  2. Develop skills for maintaining lifelong fitness
  3. Develop skills, terminology, and techniques for advanced volleyball
  4. Recognize/apply basic volleyball rules
  5. Develop teamwork play
  6. Demonstrate basic officiating skills
  7. Play at competitive/recreational level

  1. Practice warm-ups, cool-downs
  2. Perform advanced physical skills of volleyball, including setting, serving, passing, spiking, and blocking
  3. Participate in team play
  4. Demonstrate advanced game strategies
  5. Apply basic rule use in play
  6. Demonstrate basic officiating techniques
