Course Description

Builds further on the beginning techniques of the game. Emphasizes team play, special situations and officiating. Beginning volleyball class or instructor permission required. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Each student provides appropriate sport clothing for activity. Sport shoes are required for activity.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Improve physical condition
  2. Develop skills for maintaining lifelong fitness
  3. Develop skills, terminology, and techniques for intermediate volleyball
  4. Recognize/apply basic volleyball rules
  5. Develop teamwork play

  2. Intermediate physical skills of volleyball
  3. Intermediate play strategies
  4. Fundamental rules, terminology, and sportsmanship
  5. Basic principles of offense/defense
  6. Safety concepts


COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

  1. Practice warm-ups, cool-downs
  2. Perform intermediate physical skills of volleyball, including setting, serving, passing, spiking, and blocking
  3. Apply basic rule use in play
  4. Participate in team play
  5. Demonstrate intermediate game strategies
