Course Description

Introduces graphic, audio and video development for multimedia. Includes use of industry standard tools to produce digital media elements composed of graphics, audio and video to communicate an idea to a targeted audience. Prerequisites/concurrent: MM 120, or instructor permission. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Students who successfully complete this course will use industry standard production software programs such as Adobe Photoshop™, Adobe Premiere™, Apple Final Cut Pro™, and audio editing applications, Macromedia Sound Edit 16™, to create and modify production components.
 

Intended Outcomes for the course

 Upon successful completion students should be able to:

  • Create, edit, and format graphics elements using industry standard production tools.
  • Create, edit, and format audio elements using industry standard production tools.
  • Create, edit, and format video elements using industry standard production tools.
  • Prepare multimedia elements for multiple modes of delivery.

Course Activities and Design


Course material will be presented in a lecture format. This course is designed to maximize learning through the use of strategies such as outcome based instruction, collaborative learning, contextual application and performance based assessment. Lecture material will consist of discussion, diagrams, images, multimedia, and other educationally sound practices. Other activities will include hands-on utilization of graphic software and hardware . Demonstration and handout materials will be provided.
 

Outcome Assessment Strategies


Assessment is designed to indicate achievement of the course outcome and performance tasks. The instructor will outline the methods used to assess student progress and the criteria for assigning a grade at the beginning of the course. Assessment will be based upon a combination of in-class participation, attendance, examinations, and quality of the multimedia project(s). Determination of problem solving skills, team work, and communication skills may also be included.
