Course Description

Introduces current Macintosh computer operating system, industry technical requirements, classroom procedures and overview of the program servers and printers. Required for entry into the Graphic Design program.

Addendum to Course Description

This is a required course for students intending to continue in the Graphic Design program at Portland Community course. This is not a general computer course, but a course specific to the requirements of the Graphic Design program at Portland Community College. A grade of “B” or higher is required to continue in subsequent Graphic Design courses.


 

Intended Outcomes for the course

At the completion of this course students should be able to:

  • Increase workflow production through efficient use of the computer operating system 
  • Streamline project organization through integration of a file naming system 
  • Interface with networked servers and printers 

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Written quizzes and tests will be used to assess student’s competency in the material covered in the course curriculum. Students will be assessed on vocabulary, shortcuts, procedures and Graphic Design industry best practices.
