Course Description
Examines human motion in physical activity and sports and the integration of anatomy and biomechanics. Explores the anatomical movements involved in a wide variety of motor and balance tasks, postural stability exercises, and exercise program design. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Apply the principles of kinesiology to functional movement of the trunk, upper extremities and lower extremities.
- Analyze postural alignment and movement quality and apply to individual fitness and wellness.
- Utilize biomechanical principles to optimize sport and physical performance.

Identify, explain and apply Osteokinematics and Cardinal Planes of Motion.

Examine and identify joint structure and Arthrokinematics of Roll, Slide, Spin.

Analyze and apply kinesiology of the spine, trunk, upper and lower body.

Apply biomechanical assessments, analyze results and recommend corrective exercises.

Analyze posture and gait for optimal movement.
