Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

Identify and use selected high-frequency vocabulary in a variety of oral and written contexts at a high-intermediate to low advanced level of mastery.

Distinguish between vocabulary that is more appropriate in formal and informal contexts.

Evaluate and apply vocabulary learning strategies.
Course Activities and Design
Class time includes a combination of presentation, small group and whole class discussion, and other spoken and written practice. Other activities may include individual and group projects. Homework includes preparation for all the above as well as activities such as readings which contextualize the target vocabulary, practice exercises, creation of posts, slides, or videos to explain and illustrate new words, and study for quizzes and tests.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Quizzes, tests, student writing, and oral or multimedia presentations.
