Course Description

This course will discuss methods for transferring power through the mechanical power train and cover differential, brakes, final drives, and under carriage. The content of this course should be treated as general information for power train components in all Caterpillar machines. DST 116. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

At the completion of this course, the student will have working knowledge of the power train components that are included in this course. Using reference materials, the student will be able to disassemble, assemble, and adjust various power train components.  

Course Activities and Design

This is an outcome-based course utilizing a lecture / lab format. This course includes videos, assignments, demonstrations, lectures, and hands on learning.   Course will be taught using Caterpillar equipment and curriculum.

·            Hands-on practical testing

·            Daily lab assignments as defined by Caterpillar Curriculum / weekly and term projects
