Included in DA 110 will be instruction in dental charting using approved symbols, gathering and recording patient information and HIPAA protocol.  Emphasis will be placed on the prevention of disease transmission.  Included in basic dental assisting instruction will be the armamentatrium, procedures and protocols in operative, fixed proshtodontic dentistry, and an introduction to general extraction.

• Describe basic chairside duties involved in the procedures of anesthetic delivery, amalgam, composite, crown and bridge restorations, and simple extractions, while utilizing safe, effective methods and professionalism.

• Recognize and describe the importance of patient records, concepts of confidentiality and clear, concise recordings of patient information.

• Complete textbook and classroom assignments.

• Demonstrate understanding through the completion of written quizzes, midterm, and final examinations at 70% or higher.

• Maintain attendance at 70% or more of class sessions.
