Course Description

Introduces strategies and technologies used for the analysis of data and its effective presentation for decision support. Includes common functions of data analysis technologies such as preparation of structured and unstructured data, data mining, predictive analytics, online analytical processing (OLAP), data visualization, and reporting. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  • Identify problems that can be solved through the analysis of available data.
  • Prepare structured and unstructured data for analysis using Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tools.
  • Run data analysis and predictive analytics tools.
  • Present data in Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and Decision Support Systems (DSS) tools.
  • Choose and implement appropriate visualizations for data.
