Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Assess patient conditions that present challenges to venipuncture, including age-related, physiological, and disease-related factors.
2. Select and apply appropriate venipuncture techniques for pediatric, geriatric, critically ill, and high-risk patients.
3. Modify collection approaches to safely draw blood from patients with vascular disease, edema, obesity, or increased hemorrhage risk.
4. Demonstrate advanced venipuncture techniques while maintaining patient comfort, safety, and specimen integrity.
5. Evaluate venipuncture outcomes and implement corrective actions to minimize complications and specimen rejection.
