Course Description

Covers recognition in communication, perceptions and needs of different populations in emergency settings. Further examines the role of the nervous system in emergency situations, highlighting its impact on both responders managing stress and the individuals they serve.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

Identify and reflect on unconscious biases and cultural assumptions that may influence providers' interactions. 
Evaluate challenges faced by medical responders using findings from surveys and other data collection methods.
