Course Description

Learn principles of coordinate measuring machine (CMM) operation and programming, including probe qualification, alignments, CAD and GD&T applications, safe practices, accurate inspections, and effective reporting.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

1. Set up and qualify CMM probing systems by referencing master probes, qualifying styli, and configuring stylus holders to ensure accurate measurement.

2. Apply alignment and measurement strategies including the use of clearance planes, cylinders, and multiple alignments to perform accurate dimensional inspections.

3. Develop and execute inspection programs using star probes, CAD models, and GD&T applications, while applying best practices to avoid crashes and optimize evaluation settings.

4. Analyze and communicate inspection results by generating reports, interpreting measurement data, and applying resources such as the Calypso Cookbook for troubleshooting and process improvement.
