Course Description
Focuses on developing proficiency in the four processes of Motivational Interviewing (MI), with particular emphasis on evoking preparatory change talk, strengthening commitment change talk, gauging readiness for change, transitioning to planning, and supporting behavior change.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Apply strategies to evoke preparatory change talk.
2. Assess clients readiness for change and action.
3. Apply strategies for supporting change in practice.
4. Adapt Motivational Interviewing strategies to address cross cultural considerations.
