Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
Small Business Design provides a term-long iterative, creative learning experience to develop a business model for an original venture concept or for a new product or service for an existing organization. Emphasizes the importance of design thinking, market development, and understanding revenue streams, costs and the risks involved with operating a small business. Explains how to access and use the national, state and local small business resources available in the U.S.A..
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Explain the importance of small business in the economy.
- Prepare a complete business model.
- Prepare financial estimates for the business model.
- Compare and contrast to make an appropriate choice of a legal entity for the business model.
- Demonstrate how to access and use the national, state and local resources available to support a small business or non-profit organization.
- Analyze the complex and interconnected relationship between human behavior and the environment through a lens of sustainability and “the triple bottom line” (people, planet, prosperity).
