Course Description
Provides advanced training in motivational interviewing (MI). Explores topics such as: ambivalence, discord, and change talk. Covers MI techniques with specific populations and contexts related to addiction counseling. Prerequisites: AD 120E, AD 121E, AD 122E, AD 124E, AD 141E, AD 144E, HUS 101, HUS 102, HUS 108, and (WR 115 and RD 115) or IRW 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

Apply advanced MI techniques and strategies in a clinical practice.
