Course Description
Explores identification, understanding and treatment of a variety of behavioral addictions. Covers the educational requirements for gambling addiction counselor certification. Prerequisites: AD 120E, AD 121E, AD 122E, AD 124E, AD 140E, AD 141E. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

Identify the different types of behavioral addictions and their clinical presentations.

Identify the underlying psychological and neurological mechanisms that contribute to the development and maintenance of behavioral addictions.

Use a range of assessment tools to diagnose and evaluate the severity of behavioral addictions.

Develop individualized treatment plans for clients with behavioral addictions, using evidence-based and other practice based evidence approaches.
