Course Description

Introduces theory of effective addiction group counseling. Includes strategies for group development and for effective group leader facilitation. Prerequisites: WR 115, RD 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement test scores. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Implement effective addiction counseling strategies for group facilitation.
  2. Identify the characteristics of an effective group facilitator.
  3. Define types and stages of group development.
  4. Describe effective group involvement.
