Joseph Mann

Joseph Mann studied in New York at Parson’s School of Design where he was a Helena Rubenstein scholar and graduated suma cum laude. His teaching experience includes the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, travel workshops in France, Italy and Nigeria. In Portland, Mann conducts an ongoing advanced painting critique group. He also offers intensive painting, drawing and printmaking workshops. In Portland he has exhibited at Augen Gallery.  His work is in the collection of the Portland Art Museum. Ken Dixon in The Oregonian wrote: “If there is a particular excellence that contributes disproportionately to the success of Mann’s pictures, it is probably balance…. Basically a classical virtue, it is not the flashiest of fundamentals; but when it is handled like it is in these pictures, it can be something to marvel at.”  Mann was on the faculty of PCC Rock Creek from 2006-2015.
