Portland Community College | Portland, Oregon Portland Community College

What will we study in Level 2 Integrated Skills

We will work together in the classroom on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00 pm – 8:50 pm. The rest of the time you will be working on your own — watching, reading, and listening to grammar videos, doing online exercises, as well as writing in your workbooks.  We will practice conversations and go over the lessons I assign from the textbook and workbook when we have our class meetings.  Don’t worry! We will have fun and learn a lot.  In this class, we will:
  1. Read, understand, and respond to level-appropriate text.
  2. Write six to eight related sentences in paragraph form.
  3. Manage basic interactions in the present tense and with a limited number of past tense verbs.
  4. Arrive in future classes on time with the necessary materials, exhibit appropriate classroom behavior, and complete homework assignments
  5. Use language lab software, the internet, voice mail, and keyboarding skills to continually develop English language skills.
These are some of the activities we will be doing:
Short lectures and explanations
Readings appropriate to the level
One-paragraph writing assignments
Dictations
Listening activities and exercises
Short conversation practice
Pronunciation activities and exercises
Pair and group work
Written and oral grammar practice
Exercises and activities using the Internet and language learning software
Quizzes and tests
