Upon completion of the Diesel Service Technology program, we are confident you can do the job. However, we also want to be sure you can get the job. Throughout the program, job search skills will be addressed in class, including resume writing, job interviews and job applications. If you need assistance with these or other job search activities before they come up in class, staff in the Student Employment and Cooperative Education Services office will be happy to assist you.
Resume Writing, Mock Interviews
Students will learn to assess and articulate their skills, abilities, and goals, and to answer common and difficult interview questions. Then, each student participates in a mock interview with an industry representative. This gives students direct feedback from the kind of people who actually interview and hire Diesel Service Technicians. The program has many employers who assist us in this process, and we are always seeking additional suggestions from students. Occasionally, the mock interview experience actually results in a job for students!
PCC's Diesel Service Technology program has a strong reputation with area employers in the industry. Many call the program looking for qualified technicians to fill full or part-time jobs. All current Diesel Service Technology students and graduates are eligible to use the job referral service through the Student Employment and Cooperative Education Services office. Some employers offer part-time jobs for current students, and many are willing to work around students' class schedules for those who want to work while going to school. To have these employment opportunities sent directly to your email account, see the information below to register for Student Employment Services.
