Course Description
Overview of Employment Law and remedies under state and federal law, including employment at will doctrine; wrongful discharge claims; discrimination based upon disability, age, gender and other claims; retaliation claims; Equal Pay Act, Family Medical Leave Act; health and safety issues; BOLI process; and other relevant issues.Intended Outcomes for the course
Learn the range of employment related claims which may apply;2) Learn the elements of a wide variety of employment related claims;
3) Identify defenses to these claims;
4) Ability to analyze fact situations involving various claims;
5) Basic familiarity with the BOLI process;
6) Draft an employment law related complaint and answer.
