Week 8 homework (August 10 and 12, 2026)
Note: Please try to finish the homework before the next class. You don’t need to send it to me because we usually talk about the answers in class. Also, when you finish the homework & prepare for class, it helps me decide if you will be ready for the expectations of the next level or not.
Homework from class Monday, August 10, 2026:
1. Past tense verb list #1 <– Click here for the handout.
- Review the present and past form of each verb. Use this link (<–) to help you with pronunciation. We’ll practice these in class.
- Wordsearch puzzle <– Click here for the handout from class. Look for and circle the past verb forms from the list that are in the puzzle.
- Writing practice: For each past verb, write two original sentences with your own ideas. One sentence needs to be affirmative, and one sentence needs to be negative. Please write your sentences in your notebook. We’ll share the sentences in class.
- Example: I finished my homework. I didn’t finish the TV program.
2. Practice with capital letters: Student Book page 63, Exercise C. Correct the errors with capital letters in the paragraph. For extra writing practice, copy the paragraph into your notebook. We’ll check your answers in class.
3. Practice with because and so (links below). Look at the examples on the reference page, then try the sentence exercises. We’ll check your answers in class.

2. Montana exercises —
- Listening with a “gapped” text (<— Click here for the handout from class). Listen again to the Montana audio (AUDIO HERE) and fill in the missing words. We’ll check your answers in class.
- Review the questions on Student Book page 59, Exercise E <— Click here for the audio.
3. Question and writing practice: Did you…. last weekend? (<– Click here for the handout from class.) Ask friends or family members the questions. Write sentences about their answers in your notebook. Some will be affirmative, and some will be negative. Example: My sister cleaned her house last week. My brother didn’t fix anything in the house.
