Interlibrary loan (ILL) enables Portland Community College (PCC) students, faculty, and staff to obtain materials that are not available through PCC Library or Summit. The owning library determines whether a particular item can be provided. Regional agreements regulating ILL and federal copyright law also place limitations on the types of materials that may be borrowed, as well as the number of articles that can be requested from journals. Articles will be delivered as PDFs via PCC email. Textbooks are not available via ILL.
PCC faculty, staff, and current students can access the interlibrary loan (ILL) system with their PCC Common Login credentials. When logging in for the first time, users will be prompted to fill out a registration form. Registration has four purposes:
Please consider reading the interlibrary loan (ILL) FAQ. It provides information about frequently asked questions that users have about the ILL system.
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research”. If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use”, that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
By registering for an account, users acknowledge and agree to all of the terms and conditions above.
