Community Patrons and PCC Retirees

Members of the community who pay taxes to support the college, PCC Alumni, and retired PCC staff may register for community patron cards. Registrants must be 18 years or older. Due to licensing agreements with library vendors, community patron card privileges limit access to ebooks or databases to use inside library buildings. No access is granted for ebooks or databases outside of the library.

Although community patrons are always welcome in the library, priority is given to PCC students. Due to limited resources, community patrons have one-hour access to computers each day. Questions? Contact Us

PCC Library participates in the Oregon Library Passport Program. This is a free service that lets patrons check out items at any participating library across the state. The following libraries, among many others are participating: Portland State University, Multnomah County Library, and Mount Hood Community Colleges. See the complete list of participating libraries.

Borrowers from other institutions can request a passport patron card to use at PCC Library by presenting their library card from a participating library and photo ID at the checkout desk. Privileges will be the same as community patrons.

Identification requirements

To apply for a community patron card, patrons must show a non-expired government issued picture ID, have an email account and show proof of current address that they reside in the PCC district.

Borrowing items

Community patrons may borrow up to five items at a time. Retired PCC staff may borrow up to 50 items at a time. Many library collections are not available to use. See Borrowing for more details about what can be checked out.

Renewing items

To renew items that are checked out, go to your account and select “Community Cardholders and Retirees”. Fill in the requested username and password. At the top of the screen beside “Overview,” click on “Loans” to see what you have currently checked out and select “Renew All” to renew items. If the renewal is successful, the items will have a new due date.  If the renewal was unsuccessful, the due date will not change.

Returning items

Most items may be returned to any campus library with the exception of equipment, course reserves, and games. Items from the equipment, course reserve, and games collections must be returned to the checkout desk where they were originally borrowed from.

Fines vary depending on the material borrowed. See loan periods and fines for details. Borrowers are responsible for all materials checked out on their cards. If a card is lost, please notify the library so that we can block check out to unauthorized borrowers.

Card expiration

Community patron cards expire a year from the date of registration. Cards may be renewed as long as requirements are met and any library charges (fines, etc.) have been resolved.
