Traditionally, it seems that talk of helping students attend college has been focused on scholarships for tuition, books, and related college fees. However, through our connections to PCC and to Portland State University, we understand that college fees are only half the battle for students of all ages. While attending school, students must continue to pay for food, rent, and other family expenses. It is often these daily outlays and their seemingly inevitable ebbs and flows that make staying in school challenging for so many.
We are thrilled that PCC is focused on helping students with all of their financial needs. The Champions program and the Student Success Endowed Fund demonstrate PCC’s understanding of the variety of financial challenges that students face. These programs demonstrate PCC’s commitment to helping students - already motivated, driven individuals - stay in school and graduate to pursue their dreams. Their success will strengthen our entire community, and we are honored to play a small part in that effort.
