The Skill Center is located on Cascade Campus in the Technology Education Building.
The Margaret Carter Skill Center prepares students for college and career readiness. The Skill Center provides open access to underrepresented individuals who are seeking to increase opportunities for educational advancement, personal growth, and workplace success. The Skill Center provides content in critical thinking and problem solving, communication strategies, computer literacy, quantitative reasoning, professionalism, and life planning. The Skill Center houses a navigator who connects students with campus and community resources so that they can address various barriers to success and learn how to navigate the steps needed to gain employment or advance in current employment through education. The Skill Center also provides tutoring services for students in Adult Basic Education courses and those who need support related to placement testing. One of the key focuses of the Margaret Carter Skill Center is supporting individuals who are experiencing significant life transitions and need specialized assistance toward a college and career pathway. As part of this work, the Skill Center provides targeted outreach and support for individuals who are exiting correctional facilities.
