Everybody Reads 2019: Campus Events

Americanah book jacketPCC Events

“Culture does not make people.  People make culture.”

“The problem with gender is that it prescribes how we should be rather than recognizing how we are.  Imagine how much happier we would be, how much freer to be our true individual selves, if we didn’t have the weight of gender expectations.” (Adichie, We Should All Be Feminists, p.34)

We invite everyone to share their personal stories about gender expectations, feminism, femininity, masculinity, and how other intersecting identities have shaped us. Stories will be recorded and shared with the community to surface the experiences that make up our culture. Accommodations to share stories anonymously will be available.

Recordings will take place on a drop-in basis from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm on the following dates:

  • Southeast Campus (Mt. Tabor Hall, Great Hall area) | Feb 6, 7
  • Rock Creek Campus (Building 3, 1st-floor open stage) | Feb 13,14
  • Sylvania Campus Library |  Feb 20, 21
  • Cascade Campus Library | Feb 27, 28
