Clubs

Purpose of Clubs and Organizations

The purpose of a student organization or club at PCC Cascade Open Campus is to give students the opportunity to combine components of their academic/vocational learning into personal action. In clubs and organizations students have opportunities to test their skills and abilities in "real world" situations; interacting with faculty, staff, other students and the local community. Students work together to set goals, develop action plans for achieving those goals, implement those plans and develop and maintain working relationships with others throughout the process. In such situations students address real challenges and solve real problems. Through their participation in such organizations students learn to apply the skills and responsibilities of leadership. They learn how to motivate themselves and others, to use and balance their talents, and to become involved in their community.

The Process of Making a Site

  1. The ASPCC at each campus will tell clubs about this opportunity
and will make the request forms available to them.
  2. Student or advisor sends completed request form to the PCC Public Affairs office.
  3. Public Affairs emails the login and password to the club advisor and to the student activities office for the campus chartering the club. Tips and guidelines for Web publishing will be included.
  4. The advisor will also be added to the email listserv for occasional update memos to PCC/WebEasy authors. They can then forward these updates to the students working on the site. Before Public Affairs can process requests, the student activities offices must send them lists of their chartered clubs, and continue to update them when there are changes. The offices will notify Public Affairs if a
club loses or cancels its charter, or if a club advisor changes so we can
update the listserv, remove or deactivate Web accounts, etc.

Club websites must be requested by your club advisor. See Getting Your Student Club or Organization Online for more information.
