Brian Bangerter
Brian Bangerter has been teaching Japanese at PCC since 2003. He received his BA in Japanese Teaching from Brigham Young University, and his Master of Education degree from Washington State University. He has been a full-time Japanese instructor at Westview High School in the Beaverton School District since 1996, teaching levels 1-5 to grade levels 9-12. Brian served as secretary for the Association of Teachers of Japanese in Oregon (ATJO) from 2004-2006. He teaches First year Japanese and Second year Japanese conversation.
Yukari Birkett
Yukari Birkett has been teaching Japanese at PCC since 2008. She received her BA in English and Linguistics from Seisen University and her MA in TESOL from Eastern Michigan University. She holds three teaching certificates, in Language Arts/ESOL and Japanese at the secondary level in Tokyo, Michigan and Oregon. She taught various subjects from K to college level in OR and MI. She also worked for an engineering company as a simultaneous translator. She teaches First year Japanese.
Morgan Lindberg
Morgan Lindberg has been teaching Japanese at PCC since September 2008. She received her BA in Japanese Language from University of Montana and her MA in Japanese Literature and certificate in International Cultural Studies from University of Hawaii at Manoa. Prior to joining PCC, she lived and worked in Hokkaido and Iwate prefectures. She teaches First year Japanese.
Tee Kamoshita
Tee KamoshitaTee Kamoshita has been teaching Japanese at PCC since 1990. She received her BA from the University of Washington in Japanese and her MA in teaching from George Fox University, focusing her research on metacognition and learning outcome. She has been a Japanese language and English as a Second Language instructor in the Portland Public School District. She teaches First year and Second year Japanese at PCC.
Etsuko Sisley
Etsuko Sisley will teach Japanese at PCC beginning in the summer 2009. She received her BA in Education from Keio University in Tokyo; her M.Ed. in TESL from Oregon State University; and her MA in Japanese Pedagogy from the Ohio State University. She has taught at Mt. Hood Community College, Washington State University and the Ohio State University. For the last five years she has taught Japanese to exchange students from all over the world at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan.
Takako Yamaguchi
Takako Yamaguchi has been teaching Japanese at PCC since the fall of 1988. She received her BS and MS in Education from Oregon College of Education. Prior to joining PCC, she worked for Japan International Cooperation Agency in Tokyo assisting professionals from South America, Asia and Africa. She assisted in the development of Sister City relationship between Salem and Kawagoe of Japan. She received a scholarship for Japanese teachers from Cornell University and served on the assessment committee for the Association of Teachers of Japanese of Oregon. She teaches First year Japanese, Second year Japanese and Japanese Culture.
Keiko Yamanouchi
Keiko Yamanouchi has been teaching Japanese since the spring of 2004. Keiko received her BA in English and American Literature and Language from Rikkyo University in Tokyo. She studied Japanese and English interpretation as post baccalaureate study at Sophia University in Tokyo. She received her MFA in Art from University of Oregon. Keiko teaches First year Japanese and Second Year Japanese.
Donna Yount
Donna Yount has been teaching Japanese at PCC since the fall of 2003. She received her BA from International Christian University in Tokyo, her MA in Teaching Japanese as a Second Language from the University of Hawai'i and MA in Asian Studies from the University of Illinois. She served as the coordinator of the Iowa-Japan Cultural Alliance. At the University of Iowa she taught Japanese and Methods courses for high school and college instructors. She co-authored instructional materials for Beginning Business Japanese for a summer institute at the University of Iowa. She teaches First year Japanese and Second year Japanese.
