IMPORTANT – Buy what you can afford; the most important are the 3 primary watercolor tubes, paper, and brushes. In our first meeting, we will take a detailed look at each material, ensuring you understand how to use them for watercolor media.

NOTE: $15.00 of your material fee goes to pay for the classroom space and to support the Friendly House. The other $8.00 is for class materials and teacher’s demos.

Note: If you want brighter purples buy Permanent Rose or Quinacridone Rose, if you want muted purples buy Perylene red or Permanent Red.

There are tube sets available too.

 

PALETTES , there are many options, the ideal one is the one that you can cover to transport and have a generous space to mix your colors.

Piece of thick cardboard, or drawing wood board, to tape your watercolor paper, do not buy expensive drawing clipboard. At ACE Or Home depot you can buy a cheaper a “9 by 12”. This is optional

RULER

RAGS preferably to avoid the use of paper towels

TAPE – Blue or masking tape

  • Apron
  • Atomizer Bottle/ Spray bottle
  • Painting Knife – Small Trowel, 6 or similar – optional
  • Color pencils – optional
  • Bulldog clips, or binder clips or similar – if you do not want to use tape
  • Exacto knife – optional
  • Sharpie – fine
  • Waterproof fine liner – Sakura Pigma mIcron permanent ink marker no. 3
  • Watercolor pencils blue, sepia – optional
  • White color pencil
  • White Sakura Gelly pen

 

FOR TEXTURES
NOTE: You do not need to bring all these supplies for the first class but start to collect them. I will let you know when to bring them:

  • Cling wrap – bring a small piece from any pastry you buy or from food, clean and dry
  • Dropper
  • Masking Fluid – optional
  • Plastic card/expired credit card or similar + Scissor to cut plastic shapes
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Salt
  • Sea sponge
  • Speedball Standard Pen Holders – optional
  • Speedball Hunt Bowl Pointed Dip Pen – Fine, #512 Nib – optional
  • Sponge synthetic – old/soft
  • Straw
  • Toilet paper
