At PCC, Jay teaches:
  • ART 101: Understanding Architecture
    • Survey Architecture class covering global styles from the Pyramids through today!
  • ART 102: Understanding the Visual Arts
    • Survey Art History course that focuses on Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture, featuring works from the Portland Art Museum!
  • ART 214: History of Graphic Design
    • Art History course focused on the development of visual communication and design. There IS a required book for this course, Meggs History of Graphic Design.
  • ART 215: American Residential Architecture
    • Art History course focused on residential architecture in the United States from the 1600s through today! This IS a required book fo this course, A Field Guide to American Houses. 
  • ART 217: Comics Art & Literature
    • This elective course is taught twice a year on Zoom and features a revolving booklist. This class is taught under the lens of art history, and discusses comics in terms of structure, history, and lasting impact.
