Happy Friday!

Here are the slides.

Today we shared our neighborhood paragraphs. In the computer lab, you typed and e-mailed them to me. We then did a House Listening. Optional: Do B, C and D for extra practice.

We also reviewed places in the community and prepositions of place in our book, p. 58 D and p. 59 G. Please review this vocabulary if it is hard for you.

Here is the homework for next week:

Work on your self-evaluation and Voicemail 2.

Remember: Please do not use a translator during class time or when you do your homework. In Level 2, ask questions when you do not understand. Your partner, one of our helpers or I can help you. When you translate, you do not learn. Please let me know when something is hard. I will help you!

It is midterm time. Please read the information below.

No class next Wednesday.

The Unit 3 test is next Friday.

Should you continue in Level 2?

    • Most students take Level 2 for two or three terms.
    • You should continue in Level 2 when
      • You have a lot of absences.
      • You do not do or turn in your homework.
      • You do not pass your tests and quizzes with 70% (C-) or higher.
      • You may not understand instructions when I speak and when you read.
      • I may not always understand you when you speak and write. Your partner may not understand you when you speak.
      • You have weaker skills in at least one area (speaking, writing, reading, listening).
      • Heather decides when you are ready. We can talk about it.
      • Sometimes students who are strong in some skills may still need to continue another term in Level 2 to get all their skills strong.

Are you ready for Level 3?

    • You are ready for Level 3 when
      • You show you are a good student. You come to most classes and you do your homework.
      • You pass your tests and quizzes with 70% (C-) or higher.
      • You understand instructions when I speak and when you read.
      • I understand you when you speak and write. Your partner understands you when you speak. (Most of the time)
      • You have strong grammar and vocabulary for our topics. You write with a capital letter and a period. You put a space between words.
      • You can understand specific information when you are listening. You don’t need to understand everything.
      • Heather decides when you are ready. We can talk about it.  It’s not too late to be a good student!
