Linda Stewart, English Professor, PCC-Sylvania

I’ve taught technical writing, composition, and literature courses at PCC-Sylvania for 20+ years.

Education
M.A. English, University of Washington, Seattle, WA
B.A. English, Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, WA

About Me: I grew up in SE Portland. I was always a pretty good kid, but I do remember getting in trouble at a young age for pressing too many typewriter keys at the same time and gumming up my Mom’s precious manual typewriter that way.  I think I always knew that writing was my destiny! Now I have my happily ever after as an English Professor, and tapping away on a keyboard is an essential part of my job.

Bicycle Bridge in Copenhagen

I am an enthusiastic supporter of PCC’s Education Abroad Program!

During Summer Quarter of 2023, I taught a bicycle urbanism focused WR 227 course in Copenhagen, Denmark.  That course isn’t offered next summer, but there are many other wonderful possibilities. Check out PCC’s Education Abroad page and start planning for Summer 2026! The application deadline is mid-February

Take WR 227Z Technical Writing Winter 2026!

  • Section 11853 combines online course work with fun, REQUIRED Sylvania Campus class meetings that involve lecture/discussion Mondays 11-12:50 pm.

Free Textbooks!:

Our course shell includes links to two free online textbooks, so you don’t have to buy anything! The textbook cost is $0.

Course Description:
  • Both sections emphasize active, experiential learning.
  • You will write a researched memo, instructions, and a researched workplace writing blog post.
  • The assignments are grouped as three projects; you complete each one in segments with a piece of the project due each week and lots of instructor feedback every step of the way.
