Build practical tools and a clear strategy for your Portland job search. Assess your strengths, update your resume and LinkedIn, search effectively, network authentically, prepare for interviews and explore new career paths.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Create or update their resume and LinkedIn with job-specific skills, a clear articulation of their strengths, and descriptive work history.
  • Structure an impactful job search that combines active application and tracking with rest and recovery.
  • Implement effective networking and interviewing strategies to accomplish their job goals.
  • Explore alternatives to government or corporate work.
What You Will Need (Materials)
  • Materials (pen, paper) will be provided during the class.
  • If you would like to utilize a laptop or smartphone for the exercises, you may bring that specifically for use during the interactive exercises.
Weekly Schedule
  • Week 1: Portland Metro ecosystem, strengths and skills, updating resume and LinkedIn, searching and applying, mindset tips
  • Week 2: Networking, interviewing, alternatives to government or corporate work
