ClassworkWe got ready for studying Unit 5 by doing a grammar practice test. There are different rules for making negative sentences and questions. With the BE verb, you use the word “not” or a contraction with “not” and the BE verb, like “isn’t” to make negative sentences. With the BE verb, you change the word order and use “is” or “are” to ask a question.
Examples:
She is American. She isn’t Italian. Is she single?
With other verbs, like HAVE, you use contractions “don’t” and “doesn’t” to make negative sentences. Use question words “do” and “does” to ask questions.
Examples:
He has two daughters. He doesn’t have any sons. Does he have any pets?
We practiced this in the computer lab and in the classroom. We will practice this more in class next week, and Davida will give you more papers to read and practice. Units 4 and 5 in the book and pages 245 and 246 in the book also have more grammar information.

We took a quiz on the BE verb: questions, word order, and negative sentences. Davida will return your quizzes on Monday.
We learned two songs: “Hello, Goodbye” by the Beatles and “We Are the Champions” by Queen. Next week we will learn “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift, who is Safa’s famous person.
