Review some of the grammar and vocabulary we have studied the past few weeks to prepare for your Unit 3 test next Wednesday.  It will also include a few items with must, have to, etc. and polite requests — Could you…?  May I…?  Here is the study guide <– click here.

Homework from class Wednesday, May 6, 2026:

Note:  Please try to finish the homework before the next class.  You don’t need to send it to me because we usually talk about the answers in class.  Also, when you finish the homework & prepare for class, it helps me decide if you will be ready for the expectations of Level 4 or not.

1.  Please preview Student Book Unit 7 (pages 98 to 112).  “Preview” means look at the pictures, look at the blue grammar boxes at the top of each page, and look at the purple “note” boxes. It is similar to the trailer for a movie — you will get an idea of what you will study.

2.  Verb list #1 <– click here for the handout from class.  Study the list of regular and irregular past tense verbs.  I will try to give you a list every week.  You will have a quiz on these verbs on Monday, May 11, 2026.

1.  Verb list #1 <– click here for the handout from class.  Continue to study the list of regular and irregular past tense verbs. Study suggestion:  Practice with a friend or family member. I will try to give you a list every week.  You will have a quiz on these verbs on Monday, May 11, 2026.

2.  Grammar practice: Comparative adjectives (links to handouts below)

  • Wordsearch <– Click here for the handout. Circle the comparative form for each adjective in the list.  The first one is an example.  We’ll check the answers in class on Monday, May 11, 2026.
  • Comparative sentences <– Click here for the handout. You can complete the exercise on the handout, or, for extra writing practice (**recommended!**), copy the sentences into your notebook.  Example for #1:  Australia is big, but Canada is bigger than Australia. Then listen to the answers <– click here for the audio. Check your answers with the audio. For extra speaking practice, repeat the sentences that you hear on the audio.

3.  Student Book pages 99 & 100

a)  page 99, Exercise C <– Click here for the audio.  Listen and repeat the comparative phrases a few times.

b) page 100, Exercises D & E.  Complete the exercises in your student book, or, for extra writing practice (**recommended!**), copy the sentences into your notebook. We’ll check the answers in class on Monday, May 11, 2026.
