Homework from Monday, August 4, 2025:
1. Student Book page 130 (<– Click here for the audio.) Review the vocabulary and pronunciation about the natural disasters.
2. Student Book page 132, Exercise A (<– Click here for the audio.) Listen to the questions and answers. Repeat the questions and answers to practice pronunciation.
3. Workbook page 50, Exercises A & B. Complete the exercises in your workbook, or, for extra writing practice, copy the exercise into your notebook. We’ll check your answers in class on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
4. Workbook page 54, Exercise J (<– Click here for the audio.) Listen to the emergency warning a few times. Fill in the missing words in the exercise. We’ll check your answers in class on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
5. Slideshow: Natural Disasters and Weather Events <– Click here for the slideshow. Look at each slide and read the information. Use your mouse or arrow keys (on your computer) or swipe (on your phone) to move between slides. Think about natural disasters and weather events you, friends or family members have experienced in the past.
6. Finish the state reading information:
- Listen to the information about Montana (<– click here for the audio) and fill in the information on the handout (<– click here). Just write key words, NOT full sentences.
- Read the information about Hawaii and Alaska on Workbook page 25 and fill in the information on the handout (<– click here). Just write key words, NOT full sentences.

1. Grammar practice with Be in the past (was/were). Complete the exercises on the handout I gave you in class. (The links are below if you were absent.) For extra writing practice, copy the sentences into your notebook. We’ll check your answers in class on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
2. “The Storm”, Part 1 <– Click here for the handout from class. Read the picture story and make note of words and phrases that you want to remember. We’ll watch a video about this story in class tomorrow.
3. Workbook page 54, Exercise H <– Click here for the audio. Listen to the questions and write them next to the correct answers. You can complete the exercise in your workbook, or, for extra writing practice, copy the questions and answers into your notebook. We’ll check your answers in class on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

1. Workbook page 51-52, Exercises C, D & E. Try the exercises about past tense questions with DID or WAS/WERE. You can complete the exercises in your workbook, or, for extra writing practice, copy the exercises into your notebook. We’ll check your answers in class on Monday, August 11, 2025.
2. Student Book page 133, Exercise A <– Click here for the audio. Practice pronouncing the “Did you…?” questions.
3. “The Storm”, Part 2 <– Click here for the handout from class. Continue to read the picture story and make note of words and phrases that you want to remember. We’ll talk more about this in class next week. For the full video <– click here.
4. Extra reading: “Tornadoes” on Student Book page 140. We will work through & discuss this reading in class next week. If you want to get started a little bit, you can read and listen to the text.
