  1. Ask your partner questions.  Write down their answers.

  1. Listen to your partner’s answers.
    1. If you can’t understand, you can say, “Can you say that again, please?”  or “Can you please repeat that?” or “Can you speak more slowly?”
    2. Your partner can help you understand by saying, “B as in boy” or “V as in violin.”

 

  1. Switch! (=Change)  Now your partner will ask you the same questions and you will answer and they will write.

 

  1. Practice your voicemail.  Pretend you are leaving a message.  Your partner will listen to you and give you feedback.  Switch!  Listen to your partner practice their voicemail.  Give them feedback.  

Examples of feedback:  

  • Good job!  That sounds great!    
  • That’s not correct.  My language is Vietnamese, not Vietnam.  
  • Your pronunciation is not correct.  My name is pronounced “Wee” not “Kwee.”
