Hi, I’m Dr. Lori MacKinder (most students call me Doc Lori or Dr. MacKinder), and I’m grateful to be part of your educational adventure.
Most of my PCC classes meet in-person on campus, with the option to join remotely through Zoom. Class materials will be provided both in class and on D2L (our online classroom). While most learning happens during class, you’ll find everything you need in our online classroom if you miss a session. Work outside of class is minimal unless you’re making up missed work. Extra practice resources are always available as practice is one of the most important keys to learning and solidifying what you’ve learned.
My courses are designed to help you build confidence, critical thinking, problem-solving, foundational academic skills, and communication. As you strengthen these essential building blocks, you’ll be ready for what comes next, whether that’s higher-level math or English, preparing for the GED®, starting college, or advancing your career.
PCC offers great support to help you feel comfortable with the technology we’ll use, including PCC email, Google Drive, and D2L. If you don’t have access to a computer or reliable internet, let me know, I can connect you with PCC and community resources.
If you have questions, please email me at lori.mackinder@pcc.edu. I’m here to support your learning and growth, and I look forward to working with you!
