Hello and Привіт!
I’m Ksenia Everton! I’m Ukrainian, an environmentalist, a teacher, a biologist, and a learner. I love science, backpacking, reading, chocolate, traveling, borshch, my family, and my cats! I’m excited to be learning biology with you this term.
I’ve been teaching at PCC since 2010, and have taught several different classes, mostly at the Rock Creek campus. Since 2022 I have been teaching cell biology and anatomy and physiology courses at the Sylvania campus. A favorite of mine has been the Principles of Biology series (BI211, BI212, BI213 now renumbered to BI221Z-BI223Z) which I highly recommend for people who are interested in science research, a biology/related field bachelor’s degree, or for those planning on applying to medical school.
I love teaching BI112, Cell Biology, and BI231-BI233, the anatomy and physiology series, as I think it benefits everyone to have a deeper understanding of how their body works!

My husband and I backpacking in Mt. Rainier National Park. It was really early in the season (beginning of July) so the weather was moody — a lot of mist and fog all week.

My kids hiking through a forest in western Ukraine several years ago. We lost the trail so there was a little “bushwhacking” involved, which the kids had mixed feelings about 🙂

Southern Olympic wild coast at sunset!

Two friends and I backpacking Mt. Hood. It is the first week of October so we had no planned for THIS much snow! It was very exciting.

Beautiful seaweed (which is a kind of protist (type of an organism) — not a plant!) on southern Olympic coast in Washington state. The diversity and beauty of these organisms here is incredible!
