Hello students,

I have three announcements:
1.  There is no class on Monday, May 25.  It is a holiday:  Memorial Day.  PCC will be closed.

2.  Our last day of class will be Wednesday, June 10.

3.  If you borrowed a book from the library, you must return it on the due date.

Homework due Friday, May 22

1.  Finish the story you wrote with your group about one of the photos from the PCC scavenger hunt.  Use your imagination to write a story about a typical day for the students in the photo.  A typical day is a regular day.  What do these students usually do on a regular day?  Write at least 5 affirmative (=positive) sentences, 1 negative sentence, and 1 question. Write at least 1 sentence with “there is.”  You can write more if you want.

Here are some verbs to use:

get up, exercise, take a shower, eat, drink, walk, drive, work, take classes, read, watch, brush your hair, brush your teeth, comb your hair, floss, go, arrive, shave, do, wake up, make dinner, give, like, get, sleep, shop, play, wear, fix, relax, wash, buy, clean, cook, finish, leave, practice, speak, stop, study, teach, visit

Look at the paragraph on page 82.  This is an example of a student writing about their typical day with the simple present.
Email Davida your paragraph after you write it or write it on paper and bring it to class.
I will submit the photos and paragraphs to the ESOL Ambassador, an online magazine that features work by PCC ESOL students.  It is a great honor to be in the Ambassador!
Click here for past issues:  ESOL Ambassador Spring 2025 and ESOL Ambassador Winter 2025.  Do you recognize any of your classmates from other classes or levels?
2.  Study for a quiz on the simple present.  You will need to know the spelling rules for verbs with he/she/it, how to use don’t/doesn’t to make negative sentences, and how to use do/don’t to make questions.
3.  Study the grammar on page 245 of the textbook.
