Hello students,
Here are the slides from today.  Click this link:  Level 2 Friday, November 14 Slides

We had a fun class today.  Terri was back!  👋
We corrected the HW from the packet and did some practice in Unit 8 in the textbook.
We practiced more with the story about the quietest place in Oregon from ESOL News Oregon.  If you want to practice another story, click here:  ESOL News Oregon
We sang some of our old songs and learned a new song.

Write your own restaurant review on a piece of paper to give Davida. Click this link for the directions: Restaurant Review HW  Brave students can present their restaurant reviews to the class!

2.  Go to the computer lab at 8:30 on Monday.  We will take the CASAS test.

CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems)

 Why take CASAS?

  1.  All ESOL students in Levels 1-2-3 take the test at the beginning and end of each term.  This shows that you are learning more and more English every term!

  2. The State of Oregon gives PCC money for each student who takes the test. This helps make ESOL classes cheaper.

  3. The test shows your READING SKILLS ONLY on the day that you take the test.

What is on the CASAS test?

  1. G number, first name and last name.

  2. Practice: What is the right test for you?

  3. 10 or more SORTING  questions (15 minutes).  THIS IS NOT THE TEST.

    • The computer uses these questions to choose the right test for you.

    • Don’t know the answer? Click “I Don’t Know.” Then click the blue arrow.

    • Confused?  Stop clicking and raise your hand. We will help you.

Test:  What are your English reading skills today?

a. Two Practice Questions: Do them fast. They are practice only.

b. 28 to 35 questions. THIS IS THE TEST. It takes most people about one hour to complete.

c.  Don’t know the answer? Click “Skip This Question” and move on to the next question.

d. Don’t talk to your friends!  Don’t use your phone!

e. Don’t ask a teacher for help with answers!

f.   Finished? Stop clicking and raise your hand!  DO NOT click “End Test.”

Try to relax.  Do your best.

You can’t study for this test.

The number at the end is not a PCC grade or a PCC level of ESOL.
