Portland Community College | Portland, Oregon Portland Community College

Hi,
Sole FlamingoI’m Jill Jeffers Goodell. I’ve been teaching drawing and painting at PCC since 2007. I’ve taught over 2500 students, and it’s been an exceptional experience. And you, the student makes it so. There are so many of you who have come into class with loads of trepidation, especially beginning drawing. You are brave and a risk taker. So many people don’t believe they can draw (wrong), but you come in anyway. To my delight, students usually leave knowing they CAN draw; it’s just a skill.

My background includes too many years in advertising and public relations before I rediscovered my love for fine art. Coming back took some effort, one of which is that I drew everyday. In fact, I’m still doing it.

When asked how to get better, Michelangelo retorted, “Draw, Antonio; draw, Antonio; draw and don’t waste time.” This is my hope. No matter what class or workshop you take from me, you’ll commit yourself to setting aside time to practice. Learning to play tennis or the piano doesn’t happen in one lesson. The same is true with art.

Hope to see you soon. For more information on me go to my studio website: www.glastonburystudios.com
